郭大維教授擔任過許多國內外學術會議或期刊不同職位，其中包括即時系統最重要之SCI期刊之一『Journal of Real-Time Systems』(1998 - 迄今) 與 IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics (2007 - 迄今) 之編輯 (Associate Editor)，分別於2001與2007年擔任IEEE組織下即時系統最重要之兩大學術會議 的IEEE Real-Time Technology and Applications Symposium (RTAS) 及IEEE Real-Time Systems Symposium (RTSS) 之議程委員會(共同)主席 (Program Co-Chair)，更於 2008 年擔任IEEE Real-Time Systems Symposium (RTSS) 之大會主席 (General Chair)，於 2000年在韓國濟州島擔任亞洲地區最重要即時系統國際學術會議 Seventh International Conference on Real-Time Computing Systems and Applications (RTCSA 2000)之議程共同主席 (Program Co-Chair)，於2003年起擔任 國際學術會議 IEEE RTCSA 之指導委員會 (Steering Committee) 委員，並曾任為IEEE RTCSA指導委員會主席 (2004 - 2008)， 於 1998年11月至 1999年10月擔任『中華民國資訊學會』『即時與嵌入式系統特別興趣小組』召集人一職，並擔任中華民國資訊學會理事 (2007-迄今)。郭教授目前擔任網通國家型計畫嵌入式軟體組召集人 （2010-迄今），並擔任創惟科技與開曼晨星半導體的獨立董事。於2013/01/01起擔任國科會資訊工程 (I) 學門召集人。

郭大維教授為國際電機電子工程師學會會士 (IEEE Fellow)，目前擔任IEEE 即時系統技術委員會 (IEEE TC-RTS) 的執行委員與財務負責委員，曾任國際電機電子工程師學會  計算機領域會士評審委員會委員 (IEEE Fellow Evaluation Committee Member - Computer Society, 2011)，郭大維教授著有超過200篇已接受於國內外期刊與國際會議之學術論文，並編著有英文教科書 "Real-Time Database Systems: Architecture and Techniques" 一本，由 Kluwer Academic Publishers (ISBN 0-7923-7218-2, USA) 全球發行。郭大維教授於2007年榮獲『中國電機工程學會』『傑出電機工程教授獎』， 於2004年榮獲『中華民國十大傑出青年』，於九十二與一百學年度榮獲『國家科學委員會』『傑出研究獎』(2003, 2011)，於2001年榮獲『中央研究院年輕學者研究著作獎』(全國數理組共六名)，於 1999年榮獲『財團法人潘文淵文教基金會』『考察研究獎』，並於九十一、九十二、九十八、九十九與一百學年度連續榮獲『台灣大學』『教學優良獎』(10%教師) ，於九十三學年度榮獲『台灣大學』『教學傑出獎』( 1%教師)。

Prof. Kuo received his B.S.E. degree in Computer Science and Information Engineering from National Taiwan University in Taipei, Taiwan, in 1986. He received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Sciences from the University of Texas at Austin in 1990 and 1994, respectively. He is a distinguished professor at the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering, National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan, ROC, since August 2009, where he was promoted to a full professor in August 2001. He was the chairman of his department between August 2005 and July 2008 and a deputy dean of the College of the Electronic Engineering and Computer Science between Feb 2006 and July 2008, National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan, ROC.  He served as the vice chairman of his department between August 2002 and July 2005. He was an Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering, National Taiwan University, between August 2000 and July 2001, and the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering of the National Chung Cheng University in Chiayi, Taiwan, ROC between August 1994 and July 2000. Prof. Kuo now chairs the Embedded Systems Group of the National Networked Communication Program Office and serves as an independent board director of the Genesys Logic and the MStar Semiconductor, leading companies in IC designs for display, smartphones, wireless communication, USB, and flash-memory controllers and with the total annual revenue over 1 billion US dollars. From 2013/01/01, Prof. Kuo serves as the Program Director of the Computer Science Division of the National Science Council. The research interests of Prof. Kuo include real-time systems, embedded systems, flash-memory storage systems, and real-time database systems. 

Dr. Kuo is an IEEE Fellow and is now an executive committee member (and a treasurer) of the IEEE Technical Committee on Real-Time Systems and a director board member of the Institute of Information and Computing Machinery (IICM). He also served as a member in the IEEE Fellow Evaluation Committee (Computer Society, 2011). Prof. Kuo served as the Chair of the Real-Time and Embedded Systems Special Interest Group of the Institute of Information & Computing Machinery (1998-1999). He received the Distinguished EE Professor Award from the Chinese Institute of Electrical Engineering in 2007, the ROC Ten Young Outstanding Persons Award in 2004, the Distinguished Research Award from the ROC National Science Council in 2003 and 2011, the Young Scholar Research Award from Academia Sinica, Taiwan, ROC, in 2001, and the Investigative Research Award from the Pan Wen Yuan Foundation, Taiwan, ROC, in 1999, and received several teaching awards from the National Taiwan University in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2010, and 2011, including the Distinguished Teaching Award (top 1%; 2005).  

Prof. Kuo serves as an Associate Editor of the Journal of Real-Time Systems (SCI) since 1998 and IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics (SCI) since 2007,  and a program committee member of many international conferences around the world. Prof. Kuo serves as the General Chair (2008) and Program Chair (2007) of IEEE Real-Time Systems Symposium (RTSS), where RTSS is the best conference in real-time systems in the world. He also served as a Program Co-Chair of the Seventh International Conference on Real-Time Computing Systems and Applications (RTCSA 2000), Cheju Island, Korea, December 12-14, 2000, and a Program Co-Chair of the IEEE Real-Time Technology and Applications Symposium (RTAS), Taipei, Taiwan, in 2001. Starting from 2003, he served as a member of the steering committee of IEEE RTCSA, and he served as the steering committee chair of IEEE RTCSA between 2004 and 2008. He has over 200 technical papers published or been accepted in international journals and conferences and has a book "Real-Time Database Systems: Architecture and Techniques" published by Kluwer Academic Publishers (ISBN 0-7923-7218-2, USA).
